Lucban National High School and
Lucban Community College changed its name to Lucban National College on August
30, 1977. Vocational Technology is one of the first to offered courses
like furniture making, sheet metal welding and woodworking. So, when the
Lucban National College was converted into a state college - Southern Luzon
Polytechnic College through Batas Pambansa Blg.145, Voacational Technology
was already there but it was put under the supervision of the College and of
Trade and Industry (School of Business Administration) then College of
Engineering (School of Engineering) and limit their course offering into
Furniture and Cabinet Making, General Metal Works and Girls Vocational Trade.
At first, there were only a small number of students who enrolled in the
aforementioned courses. Enrollment increases as years go by, because of
this, vocational technology courses were separated from the School of
Engineering and recognized as Institute of Vocational Technology. Automotive
Technology, Rough Carpentry (Civil Technology now), Garment Technology,
Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology,
Refrigeration and Airconditioning Technology and Welding and Fabrication
Technology were courses offered. These courses are in ladderized
approach.
During SY 1997-1998, BSIT (Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology), a
four year degree program major in Automotive Technology, Garment Technology,
Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology and
Refrigeration and Airconditioning Technology was implemented through dualized
approach. The Civil, Food, Industrial Design and Welding and Fabrication
Technology courses for three years Diploma on ladderized approach. The
following school year AY 1998-1999, the said four courses in ladderized
approach were converted in degree courses under the BSIT program. In the
SY 2001-2002, a four-year degree program major in Computer Technology was
offered.
The school also offers extensive opportunities for students to participate in
sports, music, art, clubs, organizations and other extra-curricular
activities.
The new development program of the Southern Luzon Polytechnic College --School
of Industrial Technology is envisioned to support primarily on the
industrialization program of the region. It is our task to develop
manpower that will work as a team to comply the fast changing needs in
technology.
